Transforming Fortnite from a game to a metaverse hub for gameplay and creation.

Project information

As Fortnite transformed into a platform for games, creation, and a thriving global user-driven economy, redefining its identity and scaling its capabilities became essential. With internal teams growing rapidly, Jacob led the design of a bold new visual direction that positioned Fortnite as the definitive Metaverse—a dynamic hub where hundreds of IPs and interconnected worlds converge.

The initiative prioritized immersion, scalability, and accessibility across PC and console platforms, ensuring a seamless experience for a diverse and expanding audience. This ambitious, cross-disciplinary effort united UX and UI designers, developers, motion and sonic designers, VFX artists, product managers, and researchers. Together, they delivered a polished, future-proof design system that reflected Epic Games' relentless commitment to innovation and quality—all brought together in UMG and Unreal Engine.
